Crown Lifting Back to Services
What is Crown Lifting?
Crown lifting is the selective removal of the lower branches of a trees crown to increase the distance between the base of the trees canopy and ground level. (A bit like getting a wedge when having your hair cut, but far more fashionable and attractive when applied to trees!)
When to Crown Lift?
This type of pruning should ideally be carried out before a
tree reaches fully maturity in order to avoid large wounds.
How will Crown Lifting help the tree and area around it?
Crown Lifting will give the tree more of an aesthetically pleasing shape and definition and allow more light to pass through. It helps the trees form to grow stronger in time organically than if it were to remain unbalanced. In some ways it’s like keeping your back straight when you walk, it helps to lighten the load and maintain a good posture before bad habits set in to avoid anything going crooked.
Practically speaking, Crown Lifting should be carried out when the tree causes obstructions and hazards to roadsides, buildings and public access routes.
